STEP 1

Phone Consultation

After filling out our contact form, Matt will reach out to you personally to discuss your project. He’ll use the information you provide us to research your home and your needs, and then he’ll give you a call to further discuss your project. He’ll get a feel for what you need, what you want, and how Kraus Remodeling can help you achieve both. He’ll give you an idea what a starting price would look like for your project, and if our initial estimate is within your budget, Matt will schedule a time to meet you in your home.

STEP 2

In-Home Consultation

You’ll meet with Matt in your home, and he will do a thorough investigation of the space. He’ll get a better feel for your style and also the complexity of the project. During this phase we will be documenting existing conditions in your home, photographing the space, and measuring all of the areas that will be affected during the project in order to prepare “as-built” to-scale floor plans. Your initial plans will incorporate all major space planning components including cabinetry, appliances, fixtures, and furniture. After 20 years of general contracting, there isn’t much he can’t catch! We’ll take all of the information gathered at this meeting and develop a preliminary budget and design agreement for your approval.

STEP 3

The Estimate

You will receive a link to your client dashboard. It will contain your estimate, including pricing for your ideal design and allowances for materials. At this point, you can call Matt and discuss adjusting the scope to meet your budget, or you can approve the estimate on the spot. Once approved, a small deposit is required to lock you in with our designers and prioritize your project. It will be applied to the total project cost.

STEP 4

Design

We’ll set you up with one of our many vendors, depending on your needs and style. You’ll spend that time choosing your materials and developing a plan that fits your style. Our longstanding relationship with several vendors throughout the area allows us to provide the best service for our clients without the limitations that a personal showroom provides. We’ll do an on-site evaluation with our construction team and trade partners to help minimize any “unknowns” we may encounter during the construction process.

STEP 5

The Contract

After your design is finalized, a contract is required for all clients before any work is performed. It will reflect your material selections and all work performed by all trades.

STEP 6

Scheduling

Once we’ve received your signed proposal and initial project deposit (⅓ of the project cost, minus the estimate deposit), we’ll reserve a start date for you on our project schedule. We schedule our clients on a first-come, first-served basis, and we rarely schedule too far out. We believe in setting realistic expectations for our clients, and that scheduling out too far can negatively impact those waiting down the line. You’ll get a realistic timeline from us from the start.

STEP 7

Material Delivery

Upon material delivery, your second payment (⅓ of the project cost) will be due. All materials will be inspected for quality and will be scheduled according to project needs and storage availability.

STEP 8

Permitting & Construction

This is the final stage to begin construction. Scheduling the construction start date is dependent upon receipt of the permit and the anticipated arrival date of long lead materials. Due to the many parts of a complex project, we have to work backwards from when critical materials are arriving to determine when we can start construction. Our goal is to keep your project moving along during the construction phase so you can start enjoying your remodel as soon as possible. Matt (owner and general contractor) will be checking in frequently throughout the construction phase to ensure deadlines are met (within our control) and quality control.

STEP 9

Project Completion

A final walkthrough with Matt will ensure that you are 100% happy with your final product. We strive for quality and perfection, and we’ll ensure that our work meets your expectations at this time. Your final project payment will be due at this time.  And then all that's left is to enjoy the new and improved space!
